My final thoughts on this fantabulous Media Studies journey!

This is a poem:

Well the year is over an summer is soon to start

WOOHOO!!

Our time together has been very warming to the heart

Forgive me if I'm wrong

But it has seemed kind of long

And this year needs to end

Although you were my favourite

The year is over

Is social media changing the way people interact?

 

It is sad to say but what this funny picture is telling us has become reality. There are people in the would today that have been dating for years and have never spoken to each other in person. The sad truth is that social media has completely changed the way that people interact with each other. This is not only true with couples but with every aspect of life. Teenagers can have a fight, be mad at each other, and become friends again without even leaving their bedroom.

 

life wasn't always like this but it was a happier time when people know how to carry a conversation and not just sit in awkward silence.    

 

With the invention of the Internet ans social media the way people interact changed instantaneously.

 

These changes may not be for the better, in a few short years the only way that people may actually verbally communicate is asking if "They want fries with that?" 

A Trip To the Moon....

A trip to the moon would seem like the best thing that could ever happen to you.

But my idea of a trip to the moon is very futuristic, were they took aeroplane looking contraptions on tours of the moon, or even better a hotel on the moon.

 

That would be my idea of a trip to the moon. All inclusive resorts, activities, the works! Instead of having diving lessons they could have moon walking lessons. And even jeep tours on the surface of the moon.

 

For extra money you could go see the first moon landing! It would be incredible.

 

If one day we are ever able to take vacations on the moon, then i will go. But until then my feet will maintain firmly planted on this earth.

I Am Sam 아이엠샘

Now I am a very weird child because one of my favourite things to do is to watch Korean Dramas. Now the only reason I started to watch them is because I like Korean music and one of my favourite singers plays a main character in this show.

This show grabbed me from the very first episode and I fell in love with it. It has romance, and comedy, and also a tiny bit of action but it is mostly meant to be a comedy. The show is called "I Am Sam" and sam in Korean is how you say teacher or teach for short, so the show is really "I Am Teacher"

I am going to tell you all about this hilarious show and its characters because frankly I have nothing else to do with my life and is a really good show.

I will try to keep it short as a lot happens in the show and I don't want to tell to much about the show and ruin it for anyone who may be interested. :)

Now where to begin, i guess i will start with the main characters and work from there.

This is Yang Dong-Geun and he plays one of the two main characters in the show. He plays the teacher the title is referring to. The character he plays is named Jang Yi-San who is a high school teacher who gets into a sticky situation when he offers to walk a lost looking girl home. The character is patient but also gets frustrated at things his students do, and he likes to try and smooth situations out by being funny.

The other main character is played by Park Min-Young and the character she plays is named Yoo Eun-Byul. Eun-Byul is the daughter of a mobster who wants to see her succeeded in the world. She is a very bubbly, curious, and sometimes very annoying girl who is sick and tired of her life and wants to be normal. She loves spiders and has one for a pet, and she has a very large appetite and will eat and entire meal meant for two all by herself.



Son Tae-Young plays the art teacher in the high school named Shin So-Yi. She is very bright and becomes very interested in Jang Yi-San. She takes a great interest in Yi-San's home room class.






Now we get to the good part :). Choi Seung-Hyun or T.o.p plays Chae Moo-shin, one of Eun-Byul`s friends. He is a bad boy who gets involved with the mob. He has a very ruff exterior, but you can tell that he had a kind heart.





Park Joon-gyu plays Yoo Jae-gon who is Eun-Byul`s father. He is a mob leader, but he love`s his daughter very much and dose not want to see her waste her potential.








Well that is it for the main cast, ans I'm not going to tell you about the extended cast. You`ll just have to watch the show to find that out :)

Every episode of the show seems like an hour long movie because so much happens in one show. but i am going to beak down the basic plot for you so you can get the gist of what the show is about.

PLOT:

Yoo Jae-gon (Park Joon-gyu), head of an infamous gangster organisation, becomes troubled by the future prospects of his only daughter, Eun-byul (Park Min-young), who refuses to study. Then coincidence or fate brings together Eun-byul and goofy-looking high school teacher Jang Yi-san (Yang Dong-geun) in a somewhat sticky situation. After finding out that Yi-san can actually inspire his troublesome daughter to focus on her studies, Jae-gon offers a deal to Yi-san: become his daughter's private tutor in exchange for one million won. The catch is Yi-san has to move in with her. And the money? It's given as security for his own life.

Anyways this show is extremely funny, i was laughing the whole time. I recommend this show to anyone that needs a good laugh! :)

Curiously, the only thing that went through the mind of the bowl of petunias, as it fell, was, "Oh no, not again!" Many people have speculated that if we knew exactly *why* the bowl of petunias had thought that we would know a lot more about the nature of the universe than we do now.

This has to be one of the most addicting games I have ever played.

Grow Vally Is one of the many games in the Grow Series.

How you play is:

1. Click panels in your selected order.
2. Items you click will grow and grow with each turn.
3. You will complete the game when all panels' level is max.
4. They effect each other as they grow.
5. So you have to think about the clicking order. 

This game is really fun and it is cool to see how your Vally will turn out each time you play. There are two endings to the game, a normal one and a secret one. I challenge you to see if you can get to both endings!

Are We All Digital Dummies?



I do believe that we have all become digital dummies. We post, tweet, and blog without thinking about the content of the things that we are posting. Posting your entire lives on the inter net has become the norm. This can be a very dangerous thing. By doing this you are basically opening your entire lives to internet predators. Also we have become almost dependent on our devices. We feel that we need to have them where ever we are, and if we don’t, we feel lost like we are left out of the loop. We will never again know what is going on in the world and in our own lives. I mean it would be the end of the world if someone actually had to call you back.

      “We become what we behold. We shape our tools, and thereafter our tools shape us.” – Marshall McLuhan

This quote is saying that we are what we make ourselves. We can make ourselves into whatever we want, but soon after it is no longer us that shapes who we are. It is what we had previously made ourselves into that will then on further make us into who we are to become. If you rob a store and get caught, the for the rest of your life people with call you a thief, and upon hearing this over and over again you to will believe that you a thief even if that was the past and you have changed.

Dead Guys With Phones??

Well, for the same class that I make this delightful blog, my teacher has decided that we must make a movie.

The theme of this soon to be blockbuster hit is zombies, but these are not ordinary zombies, they are texters. Instead of the original biting, chew you face of, bath salts zombies, these zombie just try to shove a phone in your face. This kind of thing happens already, I quite distinctly remember that one morning one of my friends was about to rip my head of because I wanted him to read something, but that doesn't mean anything, he is always about to rip someones head off.

Anyways were filming this week so that will be an adventure :P

I HATE THIS COMMERCIAL 

First of all That woman DOES NOT have two kids, there is no possible way that she had two kids.

Second, if your husband so stupid that he doesn't know what hair dye is, I think that it is time to reconsider you marriage.

Is there any reality to commercials now a days? Now a days not only do men know what hair dye is, they are also probably using it!

This commercial just irritates me.

Have cartoons become to mature?

 Classic cartoons like the Looney Tunes and others like it is something that reminds us (well me) of our childhoods. These show contained simple minded antics that are easily processed by an adolescent mind. And I for one found it extremely funny every time Sylvester failed to eat Tweety Bird.

Cartoons were created to entertain the mind of a child. But adults took a liking to comedic animation as well, and we now have cartoons that are only meant for adults. Most of these shows come on late at night when children to young to watch them should be asleep, but this is not always the case. Around 10:00 pm the cartoon channel Teletoon switches to Teletoon At Night where shows like:

American Dad

Archer



Robot Chicken

are played. It is now also common for shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy to be played in the early evenings.

Not only have cartoons meant for adults, that have ratings of at least 14+, been introduced to children but cartoons that are specifically meant for kids are changing.

At least some of us know the old cartoons like:

Fraggle Rock



These shows were created with children as the target audience, so they created the jokes in a way that children would understand but lately I have been finding that cartoons are taking on a more mature humour.

This is clearly evident in this episode of the "new" Looney Tunes that runs on Teletoon. Where Bugs isn't faced with trying to escaped from telling bed time stories to a prince but is faced with a common problem that most adults will go through at least once in their life time, having their cable shut of and having to deal with customer service. My mom was the first one to notice this and she couldn't believe how "mature" the cartoon was.

By putting beloved characters into grownup situations it may desensitize children or even force them to grow up too early.

What should be done about this? Should we just sit back an wait untill cartoons are Scooby-Doo doing his taxes for 30 minutes?

Women In Animation

The article, Too few Animated Women Break The Disney Mold by Susan Riley, is completely right on how animated films and cartoons portray women.

They portray them as being beautiful ( and sometimes brainless) women that need to to rescued, and there are not very many that break that mold.

Even in the movies like The Little Mermaid and Pocahantus where the princesses doesn't need to be saved physically but they need someone to save them emotionally. The need some prince to take them away from their life.

They have yet to tell the story of a women who concurred their foe's completely by herself. These animation companies are almost saying that women are incapable of doing anything by themselves.

Any conclusion that could be made from this is that animation companies need to get their act together and start portraying women in a more normal way.

The Bronswik Affair

The Bronswik Affair is something else i can tell you that. When we were first shown it in class we went into it thinking that is was completely real, but as it turns out the documentary that is the Brownswik Affair is actually a mockumentary (fake documentary).

This mockumentary depicts a time when TV were first invented and everybody owned one. It was about one television set called the Bronswik that's seemed to have a connection to strange happenings. The people who owned on of these sets would for some reason find themselves needing to buy mass quantities of certain products.

Eventually in the mockumentary they say that scientist looked over the television set and found a small deice that compelled people to buy these products.

Most of us didn't think it was true do to the fact that something like a mind control device in a TV would of come up at some point, and also the film was very cheesy. It had bad animation and very bad actors. But their was a part of me that thought well maybe it is true because why would my teacher make us watch something that was fake? But it was fake.

What would be the point to making a fake documentary? in my opinion, i believe they did it to teach the public not to believe everything that they see on TV.

I mean you had to be really dumb to believe this 100%

Citizen Kane

I will be plain and simple.... I did not enjoy this movie at all. I mean, I'm sure it was once and still is considered great movie, but for me it just doesn't work. None the less, I still have thoughts on the film that is Citizen Kane.

 To me it seem kind of like Orson Wells thought that William Randolph Hearst was so interesting that he needed to make a movie about his life, as well as so narcissistic that he had to include his own life in the movie as well.

When his own life began to play out similar to the way that Kane's life had in the film, it seems that Wells had become a profit for his own life. It doesn't seem surprising that it did. Wells had hit the top of his career around the age of 25, and after that there was no where's else to go but down.

One Shot, One Chance.

B.A.P is back with there new album One Shot. The featured song on the album being One Shot, the video features an intense story  line and impressive dancing. The new album has 5 songs including the single Rain Sound.

They had   released their debut album Warrior on January 26^th 2012, and Despite being barely a year old, B.A.P have a larger discography than groups that have been around for triple the time.

B.A.P had come out with strong rap vibe with No Mercy, but took and turn for a softer side with they realised there single Stop it. But its good to see that they have taken a turn back towards rapping.

Does Stupid Sell??

When I watch tv it is the smart funny ads that pull me in. The ones that make you chuckle, but still make sense and carry themselves in a sophisticated way.

My main example is a television ad that makes me mad every time I watch it. I want to ask the person who thought of this what the hell he was on when he came up with the idea. I don't even know why it makes me so mad, I guess it's just how extremely unintelligent I find it.

The Airwick commercial with the 40 something mom dancing in the living room to an air freshener makes me want to smash my tv screen with a baseball bat. Even if this product was good, for me it is hidden behind a very dumb attention grabber. Instead of thinking that maybe I would try that, I'm thinking why In the hell would she ever be seen in those pants.

I think that using gimmicks in a commercial can sometimes take away from the actual product. Sometimes gimmicks can work out and have the right balance of funny and smart that grabs your attention but also puts the attention on the product.

To me the Kraft Dinner commercial has the right amount of funny and uses that funny to draw attention to the product and also make it look desirable.

To answer the question of dose stupid sell, is that I would hope it doesn't. I would hope that there is enough intelligent people out there to realize that we shouldn't be feeding the masses with unintelligent schemes to persuade them to buy things.

I want to know what you think about commercial advertising. Does it matter weather or not ads use unintelligence to attract an audience?

What if none of it existed?

What if there was no cable, radio or Internet and only individuals created content? By individual created content I mean books published papers and newspapers. I don't know how I would survive with out the Internet because I live and breath twitter. But what is these types of media had never been invented? Smart ass people would say that they couldn't live or survive, like i had said, without it.

The fact of the matter is that without corporate media then the world would be set back by almost 50 to 60 years in development, maybe even more. People now a days depend on social media for there information the same way people depended on news papers and radio. So if you eliminate any type of corporate media then you would start seeing people fleeing to the libraries again instead of googling everything.   

Without the use of the Internet I would not be able to write this blog. In order for people to read my ideas I would of had to write it out the send it to a local paper or publishing company. Although people still do this, most prefer the quick convince of the Internet. This is why Twitter only allows you to write 140 characters, keeping everything short and to the point allows you to move through a lot of information in a short amount of time. This is also why instead of reading the Sunday paper a lot of people hop on the Internet where they are able to find a compare many different sources of information in the same time it would take them to get through the paper.

In the end there is almost no way that social media could not have developed. With the world ever changing, the population getting larger, and supply and demand getting higher then there has to be a more efficient way to get information out to the general population.

The most amazing video ever

So awhile back my best friend Becky and I discovered this very strange but quite addicting video to encourage safety when around trains. I don't know if it really gets its message across in the way its supposed to, but it does become stuck in your head. The video is called Dumb Ways to Die.
